Shogi: Japanese Chess

Editorial review: Shogi: Japanese Chess APK and install guide

A useful APK page for Shogi: Japanese Chess has to do more than repeat a store description. It should explain what kind of user the board listing is for, where the APK source points, what fields are missing, and which signals deserve a second look. This profile starts with com.kirlanik.shogi, Svetlana Sidorova, version Varies with device, Not published by official listing, and Check official listing before install, then adds install-readiness notes around those facts.

The official short summary says: "Japanese board logic game of chess type.". opskd treats that as a claim to verify, not as a complete review, because store copy often emphasizes features while leaving permissions, account requirements, monetization, and source status for the user to check separately.

1,000+ installs is a smaller adoption signal, so the listing should be checked more carefully for developer transparency, privacy policy quality, and whether screenshots support the stated purpose. 0.0 out of 5 across unpublished ratings is a mixed signal. That does not automatically make the listing unsafe, but it does mean the APK identity, support links, screenshots, and privacy details deserve extra attention before you rely on the app.

Update timing is not published clearly in this catalog entry, so confirm the current version on the official listing before relying on compatibility or security assumptions.

Who this APK listing is for

Shogi: Japanese Chess is most relevant for players who want thoughtful turn-taking, local multiplayer, or classic tabletop strategy without a complicated setup. A good fit means the app's stated purpose, screenshots, rating pattern, developer identity, and official source all support the same story. If you only need a quick category browse, compare it with nearby board alternatives; if you are close to installing, slow down and check the APK identity rows first.

  • Best fit: players who want thoughtful turn-taking, local multiplayer, or classic tabletop strategy without a complicated setup.
  • Review focus: rules clarity, match length, offline support, fairness of matchmaking, and whether ads interrupt the board state.
  • Current public signal: 1,000+ installs and 0.0 out of 5 rating data.

APK source and identity

This page exposes APK metadata for the listing but does not claim to host a standalone APK package. That distinction is intentional. Use the package name, version, file size field, Android requirement, and official listing link as comparison points when you verify the app outside opskd.

  • Package: com.kirlanik.shogi.
  • Version shown: Varies with device.
  • Source status: APK metadata only.
  • Integrity status: No standalone APK hash is published for this listing yet.

Listing quality signals

The useful signals for Shogi: Japanese Chess are not only the headline score. opskd reads the listing through category fit, developer transparency, version clarity, source status, screenshot availability, privacy policy access, and whether the official description makes specific claims that can be checked. For board, the most important review focus is rules clarity, match length, offline support, fairness of matchmaking, and whether ads interrupt the board state.

  • Ads or ad-like wording appear in the listing, so review whether placement interrupts active tasks or gameplay.
  • Online, social, or leaderboard features can add account, moderation, and notification considerations.
  • Category fit matters here: for board, the review focus is rules clarity, match length, offline support, fairness of matchmaking, and whether ads interrupt the board state.

Trust checks before install

For board games, permissions can matter as much as the feature list. look at storage size, account requirements, online matchmaking permissions, and whether the game can be paused safely. A privacy policy is especially important when the app handles documents, children's activity, learning progress, files, cloud sync, user accounts, location, chat, or social features. If a permission does not fit the app's purpose, treat that as a reason to slow down and verify the developer's explanation.

  • Developer website — Check ownership, support channels, and product documentation from Svetlana Sidorova.
  • Privacy policy — Review what data may be collected, shared, or retained.
  • Official listing — Confirm the current version, rating, screenshots, and install availability.

Decision checklist

Use this checklist before acting on Shogi: Japanese Chess. It is designed for quick comparison across all APK listings on opskd, so every app keeps the same core fields visible while the surrounding review notes adapt to category, rating, update freshness, and source status.

  • Confirm that com.kirlanik.shogi matches the official listing before trusting any install path.
  • Compare version Varies with device, file size Not published by official listing, and Android requirement: Check official listing before install.
  • Review Svetlana Sidorova's privacy policy and support links, especially if the app asks for accounts, files, location, camera, microphone, contacts, or cloud sync.
  • Treat 0.0 out of 5 and 1,000+ installs as discovery signals, not proof that the app is safe or right for your device.

Bottom line: Shogi: Japanese Chess is worth considering only if its package name, developer, source status, version, Android requirement, privacy policy, and permission profile all make sense for your use case. opskd keeps every APK listing exposed while adding this review layer so the page offers more than copied store text and gives you a clearer path before installing.

Official listing description

This is the official app listing description provided for reference. It does not mean opskd hosts a direct APK file for this app.

The players make their moves one at a time. The whites go first. A move is the movement of one of the pieces of its color available on the board to any allowed field according to the rules of movement of the pieces or the setting of a piece that is in reserve. The pieces in reserve are pieces taken from the opponent.
When the figures reach the enemy's camp, they can be strengthened, transformed. When transformed, the figure turns over. Any figure can strengthen, except for the king and the golden general.
The goal of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king. It is considered that a checkmate has been placed when the king is under attack by an enemy piece, i.e. he is in a field where the enemy piece can resemble, but there is no way to defend himself or leave.

You can play with artificial intelligence, together with another person on the same device, or with a rival online in multiplayer mode.

Shapes

"The King." Moves to the same field in any direction, except for the field under the opponent's check.
- The rook. It moves horizontally and vertically to any number of fields not occupied by other shapes. Upon reaching the enemy camp, it can be transformed into the dragon king, a figure that, while maintaining the Rook's capabilities, can additionally move diagonally in any direction onto the same field.
"The elephant." Moves diagonally in any direction to any number of fields not occupied by other pieces. Upon reaching the enemy camp, he can be transformed into a dragon knight, a figure that, while retaining the capabilities of a bishop, can additionally walk vertically or horizontally in any direction on the same field.
- The Golden General. It can move one field horizontally or vertically in any direction, as well as diagonally forward.
- The Silver General. It can move one field diagonally in any direction or one field vertically forward. After reaching the enemy camp, he can be transformed into a golden general.
"The horse." The knight's move is one square vertically forward, then one square diagonally to the right or left without the possibility of retreat. After reaching the enemy camp, he can be transformed into a golden general.
"The spear. It only moves forward vertically to any number of fields that are not occupied by other shapes. Upon reaching the enemy camp, he can be transformed into a golden general.
"A pawn. It moves one field forward vertically. He hits enemy pieces not diagonally, as in chess, but straight in front of him. After reaching the enemy camp, she can be transformed into a golden general.

Taking shapes

Capture is a move on the field occupied by the opponent's piece. In this case, the opponent's piece is removed from the board and placed next to it. The removed figures can later be used as their own. These pieces can be placed on any free field at any time.

Transformation

When a piece reaches the enemy's camp, it has the opportunity to become transformed. The only exceptions are the king and the golden general, who cannot transform. But the transformation is not mandatory, it can be carried out at any next turn, but only if this piece is still in the opponent's camp. For most of the figures, these are the abilities of the golden general. The rook and bishop turn into a dragon king and a dragon knight, respectively. Reverse transformation is not allowed.
If the transformed piece is taken by the enemy, it loses its abilities and acquires its original properties.

Billing

A piece taken can be placed on any free field of the board, which is considered another move.

Forbidden moves

When there is an unconverted pawn on one of the verticals, it is not allowed to put another pawn on the same vertical.
It is not allowed to expose a checkmate pawn to the opponent's king. However, it is allowed to declare checkmate with the next move of a pawn on the board.
It is forbidden to discard the pieces in such a way that they will not be able to move in the future.
